- MedEdPPD – Developed with the support of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) to provide education about postpartum depression for both parents and professionals.
- Postpartum Stress Center – 22 continuing education (CE) credits can be obtained by reading three of Karen Kleiman’s books. Karen also has in person trainings several times per year.
- CE4less.com – 8 credits for Therapy and the Postpartum Woman, 7 credits for Dropping the Baby and Other Scary Thoughts, and 7 credits for Tokens of Affection
- Postpartum Support International (PSI) – PSI offers a 2 day course at various locations throughout the country and a 7 session online course with featuring nationwide experts.
Perinatal Support Washington is so excited to participate in the 2018 Climb Out of the Darkness Event. We hope to make this a community building event where we can raise awareness about perinatal mental health and support 2 great organizations working locally and nationally.
There are many ways to participate in this event:
*The most important is to show up and walk!
*Invite your friends and family and share this important issue with your communit
Details for the day of:
*Register or sign in at the large shelter beginning at 10am.
*Maple Leaf park has a walking path that is accessible for strollers and small legs- walkers can walk a short distance or longer if they would like. One loop is .5 miles.
*Walkers can choose to walk when they arrive, or join scheduled waves (every half hour beginning at 10:30). Last wave will leave at 12:00.
*Face painting and Balloons will be available for kids.
*Adults will receive commemorate race bib to wear on the day of.
*Local parent focused non-profits will have tables at the event to browse.
A little more about the national event-
Climb Out of the Darkness is the world’s largest event raising awareness of maternal mental illnesses like postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety & OCD, postpartum PTSD, postpartum psychosis, bipolar/peripartum onset, and pregnancy depression and anxiety. Climb Out of the Darkness is held on or near the longest day of the year annually to help shine the most light on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. The event features mothers and others across the globe joining together to climb mountains and hike trails to represent their symbolic rise out of the darkness of maternal mental illness and into the light of hope and recovery.
