SUMMARY:Embracing Grief: Integrative Approaches for Addressing Perinatal Loss
DESCRIPTION:Open to WA state providers who practice in WA state. \nIn this 4 hour training for providers working with people in the perinatal period in WA state\, Gabrielle Pendley\, LCSW\, CADC\, PMH-C will address the profound impact of perinatal loss. Loss is one the most painful experiences within the perinatal community\, for ourselves and for our affected clients. Perinatal loss is often not spoken about\, leading the grieving person to suffer in silence. Given the unique demands of working with perinatal loss\, we will be dedicating our time to clinical approaches and treatment methods. We will honor and understand this experience and the complexities of healing\, cover the different types of perinatal loss and their rates of occurrence\, subsequent possible mood\, anxiety or trauma-related disorders\, and therapeutic approaches and healing rituals. Our hope is to shed light on this often daunting topic and give clinicians tangible tools to treat the grieving parent. \nDate & Time: October 16th from 9:30am-1:30pm PST \nLocation: Zoom \nCost: FREE \nTrainer: Gabrielle Pendley\, LCSW\, CADC\, PMH-C \nLearning Objectives:\nUpon completion of this training\, participants will be able to: \n\n Define and provide psychoeducation on various types of perinatal losses and their occurrence rates\n Acknowledge the clinical impact on presenting issues from a trauma-informed lens\nReview effective treatment modalities and interventions with this population\nExplore and acknowledge various types of rituals that may aid in the healing and meaning making process for grieving parents\n\nContinuing Education: \n\n4 CEUs for LICSWs\, LMHCs\, and LMFTs approved.\nThis Program has been approved for 4 CEUs for Licensed Social Workers\, Mental Health Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists by the Washington State Society for Clinical Social Work.\n4 Contact hours available for RNs. She is also Perinatal Mental Health Certified through Postpartum Support International and completed the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s Mental Health Professional Training Course\, focusing on Infertility. Gabrielle specializes in working with individuals and couples on the journey to creating a family\, from fertility struggles to those in the transition to parenthood. As the manager of Wildflower’s Center for Perinatal and Family Mental Health\, she oversees mental health services\, educational programming\, and outreach related to perinatal and reproductive mental health.
