SUMMARY:Perinatal Mental Health Best Practices (Whatcom County)
DESCRIPTION:Open to WA State Providers who practice in Whatcom County. \nThis 2 track training will provide the opportunity for clinical and non-clinical professionals to gain confidence in screening\, referrals\, and treatment of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADS).  \nCost: FREE \n  \nLocation: Zoom \nDates & Times: \nPerinatal Mental Health Best Practices in Screening & Referral (Session 1) \nFriday\, June 3\, 2022 9:00am – 12:30pm \nPerinatal Mental Health Best Practices in Screening and Referral will provide an overview of Perinatal Mental Health including risk factors\, screening\, and Whatcom Co referral options.  It’s designed for Early Intervention Providers\, Home Visitors and Mental Health Providers new to Perinatal Mental Health. \n  \nPerinatal Mental Health Treatment & Support (Session 2) \nThursday\, June 9\, 2022 9:00am – 12:30pm \nPerinatal Mental Health Treatment and Support is open to any professional interested in learning more about how to provide support to a parent.  The session will cover clinical topics such as using mindfulness\, CBT\, and self care to support parents emotional well being.  We will also provide an overview of traumatic birth\, impacts\, and interventions.  This session will have a clinical focus that is appropriate for mental health professionals who are new to perinatal mental health treatment\, and also non-clinical professionals interested in more advanced perinatal mental health topics.  Session 1 is a prerequisite for this training\, unless the attendee has taken a similar course through PS-WA or other perinatal mental health partner (PSI\, 2020 Mom\, etc).  \nTrainers: Meyleen Velasquez\, LICSW and Michelle Anderson\, LMHC\, PMH-C \nLearning Objectives: \n\nIntroduce and discuss the spectrum of mental health disorders\nScreen and assess parents and partners for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders by identifying symptoms\nIdentify experiences that increase risk\nEffectively make referrals and support parents to access resources\nLearn about traumatic birth\, impacts\, and interventions\nLearn about the importance of self-care\, wellness\, mindfulness\, CBT and social support\n\nA recording will be available to those registered. \nRegister Now\nContinuing Education Credit: \n\n6.5 CEUs approved for MSWs\, MAs\, MFTs.\nThis Program has been approved for 6.5 CEUs for Licensed Social Workers\, Mental Health Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists by the Washington State Society for Clinical Social Work.\n6.5 Contact hours approved for RNs: Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing\, Provider Number 17084 for 6.5 contact hours.\n\nQuestions regarding the training\, please email: training@perinatalsupport.org \nThis free training is offered by Perinatal Support WA through a grant from Strengthening Families Washington at the Department of Children\, Youth\, and Families (DCYF).
