SUMMARY:Perinatal Mental Health for Indigenous Families
DESCRIPTION:Priority registration is given to WA state professionals who identify as Indigenous/Native. A limited number of spots are available for non-Indigenous/Native professionals who are members of an Indigenous community clinic or tribal health clinic located in WA state.\n \nThis 1 day training is designed to be a space for community connection\,  discussion\, and learning about perinatal mental health for Indigenous professionals in Washington state. Learning will focus on the unique experiences and needs of Indigenous families and the cultural context for signs and symptoms\, barriers to care\, cultural practices as both prevention and support\, barriers to care\, and more. The day will provide opportunities for discussion and connection\, learning from the different professional experiences\, different tribal communities and practices\, and different professional approaches to support families. Professionals who identify as Indigenous\, and providers who are non-Indigenous members of an Indigenous community or tribal health clinic from a range of child and family professionals are encouraged to attend – doulas\, home visitors\, RNs\, midwives\,  lactation\, mental health providers\, case managers\, peers\, etc. \nDate & Time:\nMay 16th\, 9:00am – 5:00pm PST \nLocation: Zoom \nCost: FREE \nTrainer: Stacy Lookout\, LPC\, PMH-C and Camie Goldhammer\, LICSW\, IBCLC \nREGISTER NOW\nRegistration Deadline: 12pm on May 15 \nLearning Objectives: \n\nBe knowledgeable about common perinatal mental health experiences for Indigenous parents\nKnow how to support indigenous parents experiencing PMH concerns that are culturally congruent\nUnderstand how intergenerational trauma and racism impact perinatal mental health for Indigenous parents\n\nContinuing Education Information: \n\n6.5 CEUs pending for LICWs\, LMHCs\, and LMFTs.\n6.5 Contact hours available for RNs\nProvider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing\, Provider Number 17084 for 6.5 contact hours\n\nThis is a live virtual training and a recording will not be sent out after the training\, please only register if you are able to attend the training in its entirety. \nQuestions regarding the training\, please email: training@perinatalsupport.org \nStacy Lookout is a licensed professional counselor and certified perinatal mental health provider from the Osage Nation Reservation in Pawhuska\, OK. Her personal experience with postpartum anxiety and the lack of resources for new parents within her community\nled Stacy to devote the last decade to serving her people and advocating for perinatal mental health. Beyond her professional life\, Stacy is an active member of the Native American Church and enjoys traveling with her husband and three kids.
