DESCRIPTION:This webinar will provide an overview of the top contributing factors of Black infant & maternal mortality\, perinatal mental health risk factors\, and introduce practice tools that providers can utilize in their clinical work to help eliminate disparities in care. \nDate: Monday\, December 6\, 2021 \nTime: 12pm-1:30pm PST \nCost: FREE \nLocation: Zoom \nPresenter: Kima Tozay MSW\, LICSW\, CGCS \nTopics Include: \n\nIdentify 3 factors that contribute to inequities in healthcare for Black\, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) birthing people.\nRecognize the importance of self and provider advocacy for eliminating disparities for BIPOC.\nDescribe two tools providers can implement in their clinical practice to include the BIPOC Maternal Healthcare Bill of Rights and the 5 questions every provider should ask.\nPractice using the two tools (self-advocacy and assessment questions) utilizing a real case study.\n\nREGISTER NOW\nThis webinar does not provide any Continuing Education Units (CEUs). \nThis webinar will be recorded and available on the Perinatal Support WA webinar page.  If you cannot attend in person\, you do not need to register.  Recording will be uploaded approximately 1 month after the training. \nThis free webinar is available to anyone working with families during the perinatal period and is offered by Perinatal Support WA through a grant from Strengthening Families Washington at the Department of Children\, Youth\, and Families (DCYF). \nShakima Tozay is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker\, Certified Grief Counseling Specialist\, and a bereaved mom. She supports and advocates for families impacted by infertility and pregnancy and infant loss through volunteer work with national and international non-profit organizations.  As an advocate\,Kima and a team of bereaved mothers\, was instrumental in getting Certificate of Birth Resulting in Stillbirth legislation passed in Washington State in April 2021. She is the Board Chair-Elect for Return to Zero Hope\, a national non-profit organization raising awareness about Pregnancy Loss and volunteers her time facilitating support groups with bereaved parents for RTZ Hope and Postpartum Support International (PSI).  Kima is also Secretary of Washington State Chapter Advisory Committee and member of Snohomish County’s Perinatal Mental Health Taskforce. She lives in Stanwood\, WA with her husband and family.
