SUMMARY:Best Practices in Prevention\, Identification & Treatment of Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders
DESCRIPTION:This in-person training is open to professionals in WA state serving perinatal families. \nLearn how to effectively identify and screen parents experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. This training takes place over 2 days and is appropriate for a range of providers\, including OBs\, pediatricians\, midwives\, RNs\, social workers\, mental health therapists\, doulas\, public health employees\, home visitors\, IBCLCs\, and more. \nLocation:\nKadlec Regional Medical Center\n888 Swift Blvd\, Richland\, WA 99352 \nColumbia Conference Rooms / 3rd floor / Mountain Pavilion\nEntrance: Vineyard Lobby (Main Hospital Entrance). It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk from the parking garage to the Vineyard Lobby and then to the Columbia Rooms. \nCost: FREE \nTrainers: Lisa Malcolm\, MSW\, LICSW\, PMH-C & Lyndsey Williams\, MSW\, LICSW\, PMH-C \nDates & Time:\nWednesday-Thursday\, May 28-29\, 2025\n9am-5pm PDT \nPlease Note:\n \n\nThis training is similar to our Perinatal Mental Health for Home Visitors Training and our Promoting Parental Resilience Training. If you have attended either of these\, please don’t register for this training as they cover similar content.\nTo participate in this training you must attend live\, the training will not be recorded.\n\nThis free training is offered by Perinatal Support WA through a grant from Strengthening Families Washington at the Department of Children\, Youth\, and Families (DCYF). \nObjectives of this training: \n\nUnderstand the “real” transition to parenthood.\nKnow the spectrum of perinatal mental health disorders.\nKnow the risk factors for PMADs.\nKnow key prevention strategies.\nUnderstand high risk populations and health disparities.\nBecome knowledgeable about the impacts of perinatal mental health on families and communities.\nKnow the components of a treatment plan.\nBe able to effectively talk about\, and screen new/expectant parents for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.\nUnderstand the impact of birth experiences on postpartum emotional health.\nBecome knowledgeable about risk and symptoms for partners and fathers.\nBecome knowledgeable about psychiatric medications during pregnancy and breastfeeding.\nBecome knowledgeable about supporting families in the NICU\nBecome knowledgeable about feeding issues and perinatal mental health.\nUnderstand the impact on infant and children.\nUnderstand impacts on partners and relationships.\n\nREGISTER NOW\nContinuing Education Credit: \n\n12.5 CEUs approved for MSWs\, MAs\, MFTs.\nThis Program has been approved for 12.5 CEUs for Licensed Social Workers\, Mental Health Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists by the Washington State Society for Clinical Social Work.\n12.5 Contact hours approved for RNs: Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing\, Provider Number 17084 for 12.5 contact hours.\nAt this time\, this training is not certified by Postpartum Support International (PSI) to meet the requirements of PMH-C. We are in process of updating our certification with PSI for this training so that the training can go towards PMH-C in the future.\n\nQuestions regarding the training\, please email: training@perinatalsupport.org \nThis is a live virtual training and a recording will not be sent out after the training\, please only register if you are able to attend the training in its entirety. \nLisa Malcolm\, MSW\, LICSW\, PMH-C is a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) with over 20 years of experience in helping professions. A passionate advocate for birthing people experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders\, Lisa provides mental health treatment to survivors of pregnancy and infant loss\, and families who have experienced traumatic birth; she holds a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International. Lisa specializes in providing rural mental health care and collaborating with rural systems of care partners\, providing consultation\, collaboration\, and training to support evidence-based provision of perinatal mental\nhealth services. \nLyndsey Williams\, MSW\, LICSW\, PMH-C (she/her) is a licensed clinical social worker (LICSW) located in Seattle\, WA. She currently practices in Washington\, Idaho\, Maryland and Washington DC. She has worked in various areas of maternal child health since 2012 and has provided reproductive psychotherapy since 2017. She received her bachelor’s degree from Morgan State University and obtained her Masters in Social Work from University of Maryland Baltimore. She has been trained in various aspects of perinatal and conceiving partners’ mental health. She is perinatal mental health certified (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International and Seleni Institute. Lyndsey focuses on empowerment with self-compassion and acceptance through life adjustments associated with reproductive experiences like pregnancy\, infertility\, endometriosis\, pregnancy/infant loss etc. She uses her passion for writing blended with clinical expertise to create healing narrative therapy tools and help women tell their own stories. She provides training to direct care staff on women’s issues like perinatal mental health and domestic violence and anti-burnout wellness workshops. One of Lyndsey’s favorite quotes is from Maya Angelou: “You may not control all the events that happen to you\, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”
