Advanced Frontline Provider Perinatal Mental Health Training

June 30 @ 8:00 am - 3:00 pm

This training is open to WA state professionals who serve perinatal families in WA state.

Perinatal mental health is a critical component of maternal and infant well-being, and non clinical providers often serve as the first point of contact for individuals experiencing emotional distress during pregnancy and the postpartum period. This advanced training equips participants with foundational knowledge and practical skills to recognize and respond to perinatal mental health concerns within their professional role. Meant to build upon the foundation of the 2-Day Components of Care Training, participants explore the impact of implicit bias, social determinants of health, and social justice on the experiences and outcomes of perinatal individuals. The training provides an overview of common perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), including risk factors, warning signs, and strategies for recognizing and responding to perinatal mental health crises. Attendees will learn evidence-informed screening best practices, effective non-clinical interventions, appropriate referral pathways, and communication strategies that promote compassionate, person-centered care. The training concludes with a discussion of self-care practices designed to reduce compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress, and burnout among professionals working with individuals and families during the perinatal period.

Designed for non-clinical providers, this interactive training emphasizes practical application, cultural humility, trauma-informed care, and interdisciplinary collaboration to improve support for perinatal individuals and their families.
