After the NICU: Supporting Parents’ Mental Health

This training is open to WA state providers.

This training is designed for a wide range of providers who work with parents and infants transitioning out of the NICU and receiving home or community based care. ESIT providers, Occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, physical therapists, registered dietitians, infant mental health providers, special educators, family resource coordinators, and lactation consultants are invited to attend. This training will provide skills and support for providers whose primary role with families is not providing mental health care for the parent.

This training will:

• help providers to understand and identify perinatal mental health complications common to parents transitioning out of the NICU with a specialized focus on trauma, attachment, and mental health needs of parents and infants.
• help providers gain confidence in talking about perinatal mental health with clients.
• provide best practices in screening and referral.

Continuing Education:

• 6.5 CEUs approved for LICSW, LMHC, LMFT
• This Program has been approved for 6.5 CEUs for Licensed Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists by the Washington State Society for Clinical Social Work.
• 6.5 Contact hours approved for RNs: Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 17084 for 6.5 contact hours.
