Best Practices in Prevention, Identification & Treatment of Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders (Klickitat & Skamania Counties)

Open to WA state providers who practice in Klickitat and Skamania Counties, as well as partners in Oregon who work closely with Klickitat and Skamania families and systems.
This training covers key concepts and practices in the prevention, identification and treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), as well as how to link parents to support and treatment. In this training we will discuss the risk factors and etiology/symptomatology of PMADs, high risk populations for experiencing PMADs, medication in the perinatal period, screening tools, effective referral, and resource and referrals.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Screen a parent for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders by identifying at least three symptoms.
- Screen a parent for risk factors leading to perinatal mood and anxiety disorders by identifying at least four risk factors.
- Describe medications used during pregnancy and breastfeeding to treat perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
- Learn about local resources for new parent support.
Primary Care Providers including physicians, pediatricians, family practice, OBGYN, midwives, internists & more are invited to attend the 1:00-2:30pm session on screening for PMADs and effective referrals and resources.

- 6.5 CEUs approved for MSWs, MAs, MFTs.
- This Program has been approved for 6.5 CEUs for Licensed Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists by the Washington State Society for Clinical Social Work.
