**REGISTRATION IS CLOSED**

Open to WA state providers with priority given to providers serving Lewis & Thurston Counties.

This training will provide attendees the opportunity to learn about the pervasive impact of birth trauma on individuals and families.  We will focus on the following areas: birth trauma for birthing persons – prevalence, risk factors, common experience & consequences, impact on fathers & partners, breast/chest feeding, and subsequent births. Lastly, we will talk about post traumatic growth after birthing experiences. This course is designed for any professional working with perinatal families and will have a practical and skill based approach to support parents.  Mental health professionals new to birth trauma would gain valuable insight into causes, impact, and ways to support parents.  Priority for professionals working in Lewis and Thurston counties, open to anyone in WA pending space.

Join us for a special provider hour for medical providers from 5:30-7pm. Presenter Deborah Cowley, MD Medical Director at the Perinatal Psychiatry Consultation Line through the University of Washington will share best practices for perinatal mental health screening and where to refer families.  Thurston County Public Health will share briefly about home visiting options for families, as well as local perinatal mental health supports available in Lewis and Thurston Counties.
